NubAbility Lone Star Camp

Date: Nov 06 - Nov 07, 2021
Time: 10:00 PM - 3:00 PM
NubAbility® Athletics Foundation announced today that
the organization will hold its fourth Texas sports camp for limb-different children at the Lanny
Fraser Middle School in Mesquite on November 6th and 7th. The event, which is designed for
children ages four to 17 with congenital or traumatic limb loss, will feature instruction from
limb-different coaches in football, soccer and tumble/cheer. NubAbility helps limb-different
children grow in confidence and courage by getting them off of the bench and into 22 organized and outdoor sports at camps and clinics across the country. “When kids come to one of our camps, they get to work with skilled athletes who look just like them - athletes who serve as both mentors and inspiration,” said Sam Kuhnert, NubAbility founder and executive director. “We don’t believe in the word ‘can’t,’” he continued. “We teach our campers that they can overcome obstacles on the playing field and
the kids then take that lesson home and apply it to other areas of their lives.” NubAbility has served 1,500 limb-different children since its founding ten years ago. The organization first
held a camp in Texas in 2018.

“We are so grateful to the many local businesses and volunteers who make it possible for us to return to Mesquite each year,” Kuhnert said. Camp supporters include the Mesquite Independent School District, the Mesquite Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chick-fil-A and TryBe Adaptive. Space is still available for this year’s event. Camp fees are $149/child and $49/adult with scholarships available. To register, please visit nubability.org, call 618 357 1394, or email info@nubability.org.

ABOUT NUBABILITY
NubAbility® Athletics Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that operates a national series of
camps designed to get children with congenital or traumatic limb loss out of the stands, off the bench and into competitive mainstream sports. The viral video Boy With No Arms Does
Box Jump, which received national media attention in 2019, illustrates the power and pride our campers experience when they overcome obstacles to achieve their goals. NubAbility participants leave camp confident they can win at athletics and in life. Founded in 2011, NubAbility will offer eight camps and clinics plus turkey, deer and waterfowl hunts across the United States in 2021. The organization’s volunteer coaching team is made up of 80 limb-different collegiate and professional athletes who provide instruction in 22 sports. For more information, visit www.nubability.org.
