May is National Historic Preservation Month and a great time to explore and reflect on Mesquite's history. From a new depot town on the historic Texas Pacific Railway to a bustling city full of dedicated workers and their families, pieces of Mesquite's past are still present throughout the city thanks to the work of Historic Mesquite, Inc.
Most of our historic sites are temporarily closed for tours to ensure the safety of visitors and residents. However, there are plenty of ways to discover Mesquite history. Head to Downtown Mesquite to see one of the Texas Historical Markers or enjoy attractions like Florence Ranch Homestead and Opal Lawrence Historical Park with the virtual activities below.
