Mesquite CVB highlights the importance of tourism during National Travel and Tourism Week

Mesquite, TX – May 7, 2020 – The City of Mesquite’s Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week. Held May 3 – 9, the annual tradition for the U.S. travel community celebrates the value travel holds for the economy, businesses and personal wellbeing. This year, the coronavirus pandemic is having an unprecedented impact on the travel industry and the entire economy, but the Mesquite CVB is still celebrating the week and promoting how residents can support Mesquite businesses through eating and shopping locally.

“Tourism is a crucial part of the Mesquite economy, and while everyone spends more time now at home with family, there are still ways to support local restaurants and retail,” says Jessica McClellan, CVB Manager. “Mesquite has more than 200 restaurants that are open for take-out, curbside pick-up or delivery. Residents can find the full list at VisitMesquiteTX.com/DiningWithSocialDistancing. They can also find special discounts and coupon offers for Mesquite restaurants at VisitMesquiteTX.com/EatLocalOffers.”

Local retail is adjusting to meet the needs of consumers during this unprecedented time. Town East Mall is now open with curbside pick-up for retailers and restaurants. In the Market East Shopping Center, customers can also use curbside pickup with select stores.

By eating and shopping locally, the Mesquite community is supporting business owners as they navigate through this difficult time. To learn more about how travel impacts the community and the steps that the Mesquite CVB is taking to welcome visitors once things are safe, visit VisitMesquiteTX.com.
