Check out Mesquite Residents' Favorite Parks

When the weather is perfect, there’s no better place to be than the park. Whether it’s to take a stroll with the entire family, enjoy a bike ride, or savor a homemade picnic lunch, a park provides a safe and scenic place to do it all.

If you’re looking for the perfect park near Dallas to take your family to, look no further than the city of Mesquite. With more than 70 parks to choose from and plenty of outdoor places to explore, you are sure to find a space you will enjoy.

Here are a few of the best Mesquite parks you should check out:

City Lake Park

There are so many things to do outdoors in Mesquite, TX, and visiting City Lake Park is one of them.

City Lake Park encompasses a whopping 20 acres that make for plenty of room for the picnic tables, covered picnic shelter, and little league baseball field all on-site. City Lake itself sits at the center of the park and is part of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Neighborhood Fishin’ program; the organization feeds catfish and trout into 18 urban lakes around the state, giving sportspeople of all ages a chance to catch their dinner.

DeBusk Park

Have your kids been itching to let out their energy? DeBusk Park is the perfect place to visit.

Spend an afternoon meandering along the 1.76-mile DeBusk Park Trail, or make a whole day out of it by setting up a picnic in DeBusk Park. This outdoor area is best known for its two playgrounds and the newly renovated KidsQuest play structure. With swings, tall slides, climbing features, and ADA-accessible structures, your kids will have hours of fun and creative playtime while you enjoy a picnic or take your pet on a walk.

And don’t forget to pack up some burgers and kebabs that you can cook up at any of the grills in the park. Enjoy the sunset and wait for the lights to come on automatically at dark to continue with the fun.

Hodges Park

If a more relaxing outdoor experience is what you seek, Hodges Park may be the best choice. With a short trail, a playground, and fields, there is plenty of space to play. However, the highlight is a picnic shelter with 10 tables. Pack your lunches for the day and enjoy the scenery with the entire family.

Porter Park

Three of the Mesquite Parks have disc golf courses, Paschall Park has 18 holes, and Debusk and Porter Park have nine. The Porter Park nine-hole course is great for beginners, but also offers challenging holes for more advanced disc golfers.

You can enjoy a game of disc golf while the kids use the playground or play basketball at one of the half courts.

These are just a few of the Mesquite parks that locals and visitors alike enjoy spending their time at. For information about parks near Dallas you can visit, check out our complete list!
