The Mesquite Championship Rodeo kicked open the chutes on the first Saturday in June and it’s as exciting as ever. The City of Mesquite is proud to have the rodeo back and we’re excited for you to see it for yourself. There’s a reason we are the Official Rodeo Capital of Texas!

When Is Mesquite rodeo season?

The rodeo season in Mesquite is June - August. During this time, there is a rodeo performance every Saturday at 7:30 pm in the Mesquite Arena. Each rodeo has a special theme with discounts to honor first responders, teachers, the military, and others. Take a look at our themed tickets if you'd like to partake in a specific event.

Mesquite Arena: A WORLD-CLASS ATMOSPHERE

While all rodeos feature similar categories and events, every venue has unique regional charm, and the Mesquite Arena is no exception. If you’re looking to attend the Mesquite Championship Rodeo, you can expect to sit down inside the indoor, air-conditioned stadium, making it the perfect summertime activity, rain or shine. As far as seating goes, thanks to the design of the arena, there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

A QUICK REVIEW OF THE RODEO BASICS

If you’ve never attended a rodeo, all of those horses, bulls, and cowboys running around can seem chaotic. Don’t worry — you don’t have to be born in a saddle to understand the rodeo. Like all professional rodeos, the Mesquite Championship Rodeo has two categories of events: timed and roughstock. True to the name, a timed event requires cowboys to complete tasks such as calf roping, as quickly as possible. Roughstock events challenge riders to stay on a horse, bull, or steer for eight seconds while holding on with one hand.
